"Will you just finish a story for once!" he replied.
Ouch. I guess I tell him more about my latest ideas than I do about the progress towards completing any of my latest ideas. I'm lucky to have a friend that will kick me in the rear end every once in a while to keep me on track. It is such a temptation to follow the path of least resistance, pursue the shiny new idea that always seems to come along when the story one is working on is grinding down to a snail's pace. Discipline is essential to writing. Grinding it out is the only way to go sometimes if one wants to actually finish.
The upshot of this kick in the pants, is that I believe I have found a way to integrate the work I did last summer for Gotham into The Maiden and the Troll King.
